I want to opt-out of the Working Time Directive (WTD). How can I do this?

The law on working time (The Working Time Regulations 1998, also known as the Working Time Directive) sets rules for:

  • the maximum weekly working hours, and how someone can work more hours if they choose
  • rest during the working day, week and year
  • young workers' maximum working hours and rest breaks
  • night work
  • special arrangements when there's an emergency or if someone is not able to take their rest
  • holiday entitlemenxt

One area the Working Time Directive covers is the maximum amount of hours you may work. The maximum working week under the Working Time Directive is an average of 48 hours. If you wish to work longer hours than this, you will need to opt-out of the Working Time Directive

To opt-out of the Working Time Directive and waive your right to have your working week limited to an average of 48 hours per week, you will need to complete our 'Agreement to work more than 48hrs per week form'. You can download the form by clicking here.

Once you have read, agreed to and completed the form, please use the 'Need More Help?' Contact Form below with the topics 'My Membership' and 'Update my profile' including:

  • Your full name,
  • Your date of birth, and
  • Your post code
If you are a Substantive Bank Member, please also contact our Partner Trust or Client's HR team to ensure you have opted out of the Working Time Directive with them also.

Please note, if you wish to withdraw this consent at any time, you will need to give us 3 months written notice of the withdrawal of your consent.
