If I tell the ward I'm not attending a shift, will I get an SNC or DNA warning?

If you gave your Ward, Unit or Area of Work over 12 hours notice of your absence and they correctly record this on Our:Bank - our Partner Trust or Client-facing booking system - then you may not receive a SNC warning. However, if you gave notice of 12 hours or less, you will receive a SNC warning.

If the Partner Trust or Client didn't cancel your shift in time and you have been issued with an SNC or DNA warning in error, let us know by using the 'Need More Help?' Contact form below with the category 'My Membership' then 'Absence' and 'Appeal a Warning' within 5 working days of your letter being sent to you.

You should include:

  • Who you told
  • How they were told (by phone, email, in person)
  • What contact details you used (phone number, email address)
  • A brief statement of what was discussed
  • The reason why you could not cancel your own shift on My:Bank

Once we have investigated your case, the warning may be removed from your file.

Whilst we appreciate you informing your Ward, Unit or Area of Work so they can plan ahead and ensure patient safety, it is your responsibility to ensure you cancel your own shifts in My:Bank. If you are unsure how to do this, please read our article How do I cancel a shift? or read the My:Bank User Guide.
