Will I receive a DNA or SNC warning if I cancel out of a shift and work on another ward instead?

Even if you work on another ward, you may still receive a Short Notice Cancellation (SNC) warning.

If you cancel your shift with less than 12 hours' notice to book into another ward you will receive an SNC warning. This stays on your profile for at least 6 months. You shouldn't receive a warning if our Partner Trust or Client asks you to move wards. If you have been asked to move to a different location or ward and have received an SNC warning, please inform Bank Member HR immediately on bmhumanresources@nhsprofessionals.nhs.uk for this to be investigated.

We understand things can happen out of your control and you may have to cancel a shift at short notice. If you have too many SNCs within a set time, we may have to stop you working.

If you believe you shouldn’t have received an SNC, you can let us know by using the 'Need More Help?' Contact form below with the category 'My Membership' then 'Absence' and 'Appeal a Warning'.

For more information on the SNC and DNA processes, please see our article What happens if I get a Did Not Attend or Short Notice Cancellation?
