If you have a certificate on the DBS Update Service and have previously used it to renew your DBS with us:
- Please check you are still registered with the Update Service and that your certificate is still appropriate for your role
- You no longer need to resubmit your certificate. Instead we will conduct and online DBS check for you and there is no further action you need to take.
- If you do not renew your registration with the Update Service before it ends or it is not longer appropriate for your role, you may need to apply for a new DBS check and register for the Update Service again.
If this is the first time we will run the Update Service check for you on this certificate, please follow the steps below:

If your certificate isn't at the relevant level or if the certificate numbers do not match, you may be asked follow the renewal process as if you are not on the Update Service. We will also need to investigate any new information.

If there are no entries on your certificate, you will receive a text message that you can now book shifts. If there are any entries on your certificate, we may need to investigate further.
