When providing us with documents, please ensure they are:
- originals and not copies or photos,
- valid, and
- in your current name
If any of your documents are not in your current name, please provide a Marriage Certificate or Deed Poll showing your name change.
I'm a UK Citizen. What documents should I give you?
Please provide a Group 1 document. These are:
- A valid passport,
- A UK Photo Driving Licence,
- A UK Adoption Certificate, or
- A UK or Irish Birth Certificate (issued less than 1 year after your birth).
Please also supply 2 additional documents from either Group 1, Group 2a or Group 2b.
- At least one of these additional documents must show your current address.
I'm a UK Citizen but I don't have a Group 1 Document
This process is slower than if you provided a Group 1 document. If you do not provide a Group 1 document, we are legally required to use an external ID validation service to check your application. You may be asked to complete a form at your document check appointment to give us consent to do this.
If you cannot provide a Group 1 document, please provide a Group 2a document instead. These are:
- A valid non-UK Photo Driving Licence,
- A UK Paper Driving Licence,
- A UK or Irish Birth Certificate (issued more than 1 year after your birth),
- A UK Marriage or Civil Partnership Certificate,
- An HM Forces ID Card, or
- A Firearms Licence.
Please also supply 2 additional documents from either Group 2a or Group 2b.
- At least one of these additional documents must show your current address.
I'm not a UK Citizen
If you are a non-UK national, you must provide a Primary Document.
Our most commonly seen Primary Documents are:
- A current Irish Passport or Passport Card,
- A current passport, or
- An eVisa (also known as a Share Code) from the gov.uk website that we have checked.
Please also supply 2 additional Supporting Documents from either Group 1, Group 2a or Group 2b.
- At least one of these additional documents must show your current address.
- A passport can only be used as a Supporting Document if it’s not already been used as a Primary Document.
