If you can't work a booked shift you need to cancel the shift as soon as possible using My:Bank. If you cancel a shift within 12 hours of the start of the shift, you may get a Short Notice Cancellation (SNC).
- This may happen regardless of if you cancel in My:Bank or if you contact us to cancel a shift for you.
Having too many SNCs will impact on your employment with NHS Professionals. For more information, see our article Why did I get a Short Notice Cancellation (SNC)?
Whilst it is good practice to let the ward know you can't make the shift, please ensure you always cancel your own shift in My:Bank. If you do not, you may receive a Short Notice Cancellation (SNC). For more information, please see our article If I tell ward I'm not attending a shift, will I get an SNC or DNA warning?
The 12 hour notice period also applies if you cancel out of a shift in order to book into another shift. For more information, please see our article Will I receive a DNA or SNC warning if I cancel out of a shift and work on another ward instead?
Details on how to cancel a shift can be found in our article How do I cancel a shift?
